2-TIME WORLD CHAMPION ICE RACER TO BE FEATURED ON SPEED CHANNEL'S WIND TUNNEL
"Jammin" Jared Mees from Clio, MI won his second World Championship last winter in the very competitive 34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series that ran throughout the United States and into Canada. Mees is currently defending his Grand National Championship Dirt Track Title on his XR750 Harley-Davidson V-Twin.
Jared is scheduled as a feature guest on the popular SPEEDChannel program this Sunday night. Wind Tunnel is a weekly must see show for racing fans and enthusiasts. This highly rated cable TV show is hosted by arguably the most knowledgable man in the business Dave Despain. It's hard to say for certain which directions the interview will go but don't be surprised to World Championship ICE Racing and Jared's recent ride in a 600+HP sprint car as part of it. Mees earned the outing in Kirk Cheney's sprint car by virtue of being a top three finisher in the ICE Series along with JR Schnabel and Kevin Anderson.
Don't miss Sunday night's Wind Tunnel starting at 9pm EST. And don't miss the 35th Anniversary World Championship ICE Racing Series this coming winter at a sports arena near you. For more info visit www.icespeedway.com or Contact Brent Densford - ICE (843) 750-0741 E:brent@icespeedway.com

3 TOP PRO MOTORCYCLE RACERS SWITCH GEARS TO 600HP DIRT RACE CAR!

3 TOP PRO MOTORCYCLE RACERS SWITCH GEARS TO 600HP DIRT RACE CAR!
This past Saturday night at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, MI I witnessed the 2008 I.C.E. World Champion “Smokin” Joe Kopp hold off “Jersey” Jake Johnson and Kenny Coolbeth for 25 laps on a very tacky blue groove half mile. When it was all said and done the defending twins champion and reigning I.C.E. World Champion “Jammin” Jared Mees came home in fifth position after a hard fought battle.
However on Sunday morning the sites moved to the beautiful well prepared Mid Michigan Raceway in Fenwick, MI where Jared Mees, 2009 I.C.E. World Champion Kevin Anderson and multiple I.C.E. major event winner J.R. Schnabel were trading in their leathers, steel shoes and two wheel machines for a fire suit, head and neck restraints, 4 wheels and 600 horse power of a winged sprint car.
Kirk Cheney of Cheney Race Engines in Hastings, MI, who also races the Manufacturers Cup Bikes during the winter, put together an awesome experience for the top 3 racers in this loaded ICE Racing division. Cup Bike Racers that finished in the top 3 in points at the end of the 2010 winter season received this once in a lifetime opportunity.
After a quick run down of operational instructions, safety guidelines and resetting the rev limiter to 6500 for the first pass, it was time to get the guys out on the track for their first set of laps. First out was Jared Mees and there was no waiting around to see what kind of power these babies had. After just a couple laps of putting around the Jammer stomped on it a couple times to get the feel. Over the one way radio Cheney had him bring it in after a quick 5 laps. After all everyone had to give it a shot before the car got possibly wrecked. Next out was Kevin Anderson. Kevin being the only one of these three to drive a race car before went out for his first session and got the feel for it pretty quick. Last but not least was the injured but not too injured J.R. Schnabel. J.R. just coming off knee surgery drove down to watch the GNC on Saturday but wasn’t going to miss this earned track day. It was a little tough for J.R. to get in and out of the car, but once in he was fine and got the hang of it very well.
After the first session Cheney opted to put on a new right rear for the boys and turn off the rev limiter so they could get out there and get to it for real this time. First out was Jared Mees, and wasting no time Jared went out and threw the car around like he knew what he was doing. Even though Cheney didn’t want to see any stop watches, you couldn’t keep these racers from being competitive with each other. That being said Jared went out and turned a 15.6 second lap as his fastest lap. Next out was Kevin Anderson and by Jersey Jake Johnson’s watch he turned a 15 flat. Then JR Schnabel hit the track and eager to beat Jared and Kevin he only managed to get a 15.6 almost identical to Jared Mees. So when it was all said and done Kevin Anderson put down the quickest lap of the day.
It was a beautiful day and as it drew to an end the bottom fell out just after Kirk Cheney showed everyone how driving a 600 HP Sprint Car was done. That is until he spun it out show boating. If you’ve never been to Mid Michigan Raceway to watch a race, it’s a must do. And if you’ve never been to an I.C.E. World Championship ICE Race to see these guys bang handlebars, I highly recommend it also as the action never stops. They don’t call it The Greatest Spectacle On ICE™ for nothing!

TOP 3 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP ICE RACERS WIN SPRINT CAR RIDES!
Three of the nation’s top professional motorcycle racers will be switching to 4 wheels this Sunday at Mid Michigan Speedway in Fenwick, MI. This special “Ride of a Lifetime” event is being sponsored by racer and owner of Cheney Racing Engines, Kirk Cheney and ICE/International Championship Events the producer/organizers of last winter’s 34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series.
The 3 bikers earning a sprint car ride by virtue of their stellar performances in the ICE Racing Series are none other than 2-time and reigning ICE World Champion, and reigning AMA GNC Twins Dirt Track Champion “Jammin” Jared Mees from Clio, MI; multiple ICE Major Event and GNC National Event winner JR Schnabel from West Bend, WI and 2009 ICE World Champion Kevin “The Viking” Anderson from Cambridge, MN.
All three champion motorcycle racers will be strapping themselves into a real race car for the very first time. This special event is being taped by Chet Burks Productions for later broadcast on SPEED’s Wind Tunnel hosted by long time motorcycle racing journalist/enthusiast Dave Despain. After this experience it will be interesting to see if any of these talented riders consider cars as a future option when it’s time to hang up the leathers.
Also earning sprint car rides were the top three finishers in ICE’s other professional racing division the Unlimited Outlaw Quads. These guys are far more familiar with racing on 4 wheels but still very much looking forward to climbing into a wild Kirk Cheney winged sprinter. Heading up the list of winners is 4-time and reigning ICE World Champion “Dangerous” Daniel Bergquist from Burlington, IA; multiple ICE Major Event winner Zach “The Maniac” Thomas from West Burlington, IA and 2010 ICE Rookie-of-the-Year Dustin Moser from Hudson, CO.
**Photos and post event interviews will be available after this weekend.**

“JAMMIN” JARED MEES MOST DOMINANT ARENA ICE RACING SEASON IN SPORT’S HISTORY!<

34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series - Rounds 14 & 15 CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND Sun National Bank Center – Trenton, NJ – 2/19/10 Glens Falls Civic Center – Glens Falls, NY – 2/20/10 By: Woody Doogan
“JAMMIN” JARED MEES MOST DOMINANT ARENA ICE RACING SEASON IN SPORT’S HISTORY!
Jared Mees – Clio, MI ended his championship winning dirt track season last October with the same goal in mind for the 34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series. No one could have imagined just how dominant Jared would be when the series opener took place in Roanoke, VA last November 14th. He showed up with his meticulously prepared #21 Honda 450 that is set up and completely dedicated to ice racing. Jared chose to sit out Round – 2 but won all 14 Rounds he entered. Mees even won 2 events from the #8 starting position after accepting the Motion Pro Challenge. He becomes the first multi time winner of the Manufacturers World Cup Bike ICE Racing World Championship after winning it previously in 2007.
Along with Mees’s 2 victories and wrapping up his 2nd World Championship there were many other racing highlights during this Championship Weekend. Eighteen Cup Bikes showed up in Trenton to do battle, and battle they did! What was going on with “buddies” JR Schnabel – Campbell Sport, WI 7 Jeremy DeRuyter – West Bend, WI? DeRuyter slammed JR in the first Heat sending him hard to the ice with a DNF. By the luck of the draw they were lined up against each other in their second qualifying heat. Bet you can’t guess what happened in this one? Yep, JR torpedoes DeRuyter big time sending them both flying. Problem was DeRuyter didn’t fall and Schnabel got another last ultimately not transferring him to the last chance qualifier. Bottom line – the fans loved the action but for the first time in recorded ice racing history JR not only missed the main but didn’t have enough points to make the LCQ.
The Heat racing was really tough in Trenton as only 12 riders would transfer on to the final 2 events. The Main almost didn’t turn out the way anyone thought it would as “Freight Train” Tom McGrane – Honeybrook, PA gave Jared a hard shot in turn one lap one. The “Jammer” recovered, turned on the afterburner for the win. “Captain Main Event” Kirk Cheney – Hastings, MI took the Motion Pro Challenge but was only able to advance one spot to seventh.
More wild racing Saturday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center for the Grand Finale. Fortunately for them JR & DeRuyter didn’t draw a Heat Race together. In fact, JR was back in form and transferred directly to the Main, giving some fans hope he could break Mees’s win streak, well, it wasn’t to be as out of the pack “The Fresno Flyer” Brandon Bergan – Fresno, CA dumped JR on lap one taking him down hard again. It just wasn’t JR’s weekend. The “Jammer” rocketed out to win his 14th of 14 starts followed by “Flyin” Bryan McKenna – Boston, MA and Bergan, exactly the same podium result as Trenton the night before. Hats off to McKenna for making his first two podiums ever, Bergan for strong performances coming off broken bones injuries and young 17 year old Rookie of the Year Tyler Phillips – Gap, PA who made his first Main Event tonight after 15 attempts. This is a tough extremely competitive racing series. Special congrats go out to Jared Mees for an excellent job well done!
Also a very sincere THANK YOU! From International Championship Events/I.C.E. goes out to all the racers who participated in the series, our special fans who make it all possible and this years sponsors Motion Pro, Memphis Shades, Saddleman, Cheney Racing Engines, W-D Dump Truck Service and If It’s ICE RACING – IT’s ICESPEEDWAY.COM. The buzz is already strong about the upcoming I.C.E. Kirk Cheney Sprint Car Experience that will take place July 11th the day after the I-96 GNC National ½ mile. This will really be a special event when GNC dirt track & ice racing heroes Jared Mees, JR Schnabel and Kevin Anderson take their first ride in an Outlaw Sprint car. They earned this honor by finishing top 3 in the I.C.E. World Championship Series on top of their point fund earnings. Thanks again and have a great summer!! – See ya next winter!!

34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series - Rounds 14 & 15 CHAMPIONSHIP WEEKEND Sun National Bank Center – Trenton, NJ – 2/19/10 Glens Falls Civic Center – Glens Falls, NY – 2/20/10 By: Woody Doogan
MANDY SHOCKS THEM WITH BACK TO BACK WINS! DANIEL TAKES UNPRECIDENTED FOURTH CONSECUTIVE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!
A wild weekend of racing wrapped up the 34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series. What started back on November 14th in Roanoke, VA and traveled coast to coast, visiting 15 cities, ended this weekend as unpredictable as it started.
One of the biggest stories was the return of Mandy “The Wild Child” Brodil – Los Banos, CA to the sport. She had been away from ice racing for four years following a serious dirt track racing injury and subsequently starting a family 2 years later. Before her four year layoff Mandy was a dominant ice racer on her Unlimited Outlaw Quad winning three World Championships. At the ripe old age of 28, Brodil decided to make a return to the sport she loves. In the early going she was a bit shaky, her confidence not there. She kept at it improving in each city. Her tuner/sponsor Curtis Sparks showed up at a couple of the events to help out. She opted to park her new 450 Honda about half way through the season for her tried and proven 250R. The switch worked as suddenly during the last 1/3 of this years World Cup Series she became very racy banging wheels to the finish with the best of the best. After all this work and effort, even surviving and walking away from a big endo wreck in Muskegon, MI, a badly sprained ankle in Portland, OR is the old Wild Child winning spirit still there? You bet it is!! Friday night in Trenton she aced both of her heats for a pole starting spot in the main. She nailed the gate, got the hole shot and never looked back recording her first win in over 4 years and claiming her first Big Stud Trophy along with a cool grand in cash! The Sun National Bank Center went nuts! So was it fluke or was it luck? Aint no way! The next night in Glens Falls ditto, déjà vu all over again. Another perfect night fro Mandy who won going away against the world’s best Outlaw Quad ICE Racers. The Wild Child’s fans across the country are thrilled to know SHE’S BACK!
Of course the other big news this Championship Weekend as “Dangerous” Daniel Bergquist – Burlington, IA clinched an unprecedented fourth consecutive World Championship. Daniel was dominant through out the season winning 9 events and securing a substantial points lead way before Championship Weekend. Winning four consecutive World Championships is huge and may never be repeated.
Special hats off mentions to first time winners Zach “The Maniac” Thomas – West Burlington, IA who won two events this winter and Fresno, CA’s Nick LeLanne. Also honorable mention goes out to 17 year old 2010 Rookie of the Year Dustin Moser from Keenesberg, CO who ran hard and finished on many podiums this season.
Another great season of I.C.E./International Championship Events Unlimited Outlaw Quad Racing in the record books. I.C.E. formulated and debuted this exciting professional racing division to the sport way back in 1985. Since then the world’s fastest Quad ICE Racers have thrilled fans in World Championship competition throughout North America and Puerto Rico.
Special thanks goes out to all the brave racers who signed up and competed in the 34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series. We are especially thankful to all the great race fans who make the series possible. Also many thanks goes out to our series sponsors Saddleman, Motion Pro, Memphis Shades, W-D Dump Truck Service, Cheney Race Engines and If It’s ICERACING – It’s ICE SPEEDWAY.COM. Until next time have a great off season!

34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series - Round 13 David S. Palmer Arena – Danville, IL – 2/12/10 By: Woody Doogan
THIS JARED MEES GUY IS FAST!
A great crowd braved the elements and dug their way out of yet another major snow storm to see their favorite motorcycle racers. Many came an hour early to enjoy the Budweiser Pre-Race Party to meet the racers and see the machines. All this fun and excitement took place at the David S. Palmer Arena in Danville, IL for round 13 of the 34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series.
The Heat race action was intense as usual. First Round winners were “Captain” Kirk Cheney – Hastings, MI with a great Hole Shot; “Jammin” Jared Mees – Clio, MI over his arch rival JR Schnabel – Campbell Sport, WI; and the “Fresno Flyer” Brandon Bergan – Fresno, CA. Megan Powell – Bloomington, IL wrecked in her heat pretty hard. It’s rough out there in World Championship competition and young 16 year old Megan gives it a great try every time she is out on the track. Round 2 Heat wins were earned by Jeremy DeRuyter – West Bend, WI; Schnabel and Mees.
The 8-Rider, 6-Lap LCQ was out of the shoot next led wire to wire by DeRuyter. All the action went on behind as Kevin Anderson – Cambridge, MN had second for a lap, then tested by the ole “Freight Train” Tom McGrane – Honeybrook, PA on lap 2 only to see Tyler Phillips – Gap, PA grab it on the 3rd time around, by round 4 McGrane had it back with Andrew Smith – Quincy, IL coming from nowhere starting 6th into the third spot followed by Anderson taking the last transfer position. “Sideways” Sammy Wiggins – Coatsville, PA just missed the feature in 5th by inches and Lewis Woods – New Holland, PA crashed hard getting in the back by another bike on the way down leaving some battle scars. Thankfully he was ok, What a race!
The Main Event was ready to go 8 Laps with Mees, Schnabel, Bergan and Cheney up front on row 1. The gate went up and off the pack went of 8 racers went into the first turn. After some early jousting took place Jared led lap 2 with Schnabel & Bergan in hot pursuit. By lap 4 DeRuyter had moved up into 4th followed by Anderson, The Motion Pro Challenge recipient McGrane, Cheney who got booted back from 4th to 7th with Smith trailing. And that was it folks, nothing changed from this point on. Now we move on to championship weekend with Trenton, NJ Friday night and Grand Finale in Glens Falls, NY Saturday. Jared’s really on a roll with the 2010 World Championship locked up. If he decides to take the Motion Pro Challenge both nights, and is successful, he could walk away with $4450 cash and I.C.E. Sprint car camp with Kirk Cheney valued at over $1000. That’s not counting the $14,000 plus he’s already won in cash purses & bonuses. Sure beats sitting at home in the winter!

DANIEL DOES IT AGAIN!

34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series - Round 13 David S. Palmer Arena – Danville, IL – 2/12/10 By: Woody Doogan
DANIEL DOES IT AGAIN!
A solid field of Outlaw Quads turned out in Danville and put on a great race. Great to see “Dewie” Bergquist back in the saddle on the Goodwin Powered 565 honda monster quad and Shane Wright back on the Gutterridge Harley Davidson :Thunder Quad”. Having all the Gutterridge folks in the house made it that much more special. A special thanks to them for all their help in making the Danville Round a success.
It would take 8 heat races to determine starting spots for the LCQ and Main Event. Round 1 Heat wins were earned by Ryan “The Hitman” Kaufman – Table Grove, IL; Zach “The Maniac” Thomas – West Burlington, IA; “Dangerous” Daniel Bergquist – Burlington, IA as Shane Wright – Dano, IL wrecked the “Thunder Quad” hard into the front straight wall while in second spot; “Big Mac” Brock McLeland – Burlington, IA won the last one. Round 2 Heat winners were Dustin Moser – Keenesberg, CO; “Dewie” Drew Bergquist – Burlington, IA; “Rocket Man” Chuck Calvert – Madison, WI and Daniel Bergquist.
Tonight’s 8 rider 6-Lap LCQ was taken by Thomas followed closely by Calvert, Mandy “Wild Child” Brodil – Los Banos, CA; Dewie and just out of the transfer position was Wright.
The Main Event had Daniel Bergquist, Moser, McLeland and Kaufman lined up on the front row with the top 4 LCQ racers just behind then in the second row. The gate was released and 8 Outlaw Quads roared into turn one. Daniel made it through turn one in the lead but Moser & McLeland tangled and skittered up the track. While the field flew by ending them they got untangled and rejoined the battle in the back. Thomas took advantage of the situation and shot into second place while from the back row “Dewie” grabbed 3rd and the “Wild Child” battled her way to 4th. This is how the race would finish up. Hats off to the Iowa Posse podium, as well as with Brodil who is defiantly back on her game finishing 4th out of 14 just behind team Iowa. Then came Kaufman still looking for the set-up they had last season ans at the season opener in Roanoke, VA followed by McLeland, the Saddleman Challenger Calvert and Moser. Looks like Daniel has his 4th World Championship Title wrapped up. We wonder if he will now finally take the Saddleman Challenge during championship weekend at Trenton or Glens Falls to race for the extra cash. We gotta believe if anyone can do it “Dangerous Daniel can…

34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series - Round 12 Cincinnati Gardens – Cincinnati, OH – 2/6/10 By: Woody Doogan
RACING ROLLS IN CINCY DESPITE ANOTHER BIG BLIZZARD!
Where the heck is Al Gore’s global warming when you need it? Well, record snow fall and low temperatures couldn’t stop Round-12 at the Cincinnati Gardens tonight. A few racers had difficulties making it through the blizzard but all the major players were on hand to battle it out in Cincy.
Heat races were fast, furious, and very aggressive. The first heat saw Kirk Cheney – Hastings, MI get a great hole shot and hold on to the win. Tom McGrane – Honeybrook, PA came from last to finish second. Jared Mees – Clio, MI won the next one and JR Schnabel – Campbells Sport, WI won Heat 3. Jeremy DeRuyter – West Bend, WI and Brandon Bergan – Fresno, CA got together in this one with Jeremy coming out on top. Second Round Heats were Mees, Kevin Anderson – Cambridge, MN and Schnabel.
The LCQ featured 8-Riders for 6-Laps. Anderson took the early lead and set sail with Bergan and DeRuyter working their hardest to catch him. On Lap 4 Bergan was there, forced the issue, and got around Anderson for the lead and eventual victory. Anderson held on for 2nd, followed by DeRuyter, Cheney, McGrane and Sammy Wiggins – Coatsville, PA.
The Cincy Main was fired up and ready to go as Kirk Cheney accepted the Motion Pro Challenge moving from the 6th position to the #8 outside back row position. The biggest question on everybody’s mind was: Does anyone have anything for the “Jammer” tonight? He’s had a dominant season thus far. The gate was released and off Mees flew! He led wire to wire to score yet another win. That wasn’t as big of surprise as the fact there was almost no passing behind Jared, Only Cheney got by Wiggins for 7th. It was a fast race with Schnabel and Bergan rounding out the podium. Just off the stage was 4th place DeRuyter, 5th place Anderson in his worst finish of the season followed by McGrane. On to the always exciting Danville, IL Palmer Arena for Round-13 of the 34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series. See you there! Think sun and warm!

34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series - Round 12 Cincinnati Gardens – Cincinnati, OH – 2/6/10 By: Woody Doogan
WE WHITNESSED A ZACH THE “MANIAC” ATTACK IN CINCY!
Record Snow fall throughout the Midwest and Northeast did not dampen the enthusiasm for ICE Racing at the Cincinnati Gardens Tonight. It was good to see Jeremy Shultz from Kokomo, IN in his first appearance of the season. Also noteworthy was Cup Bike rider, Sprint car driver “Captain” Kirk Cheney from Hastings, MI jumping on the Gutterridge Harley Davidson “Thunderquad” for a go.
First Round Heat Race winners were Brock McLeland – Burlington, IA on the 1000cc Gsxr Insanity Quad, Dustin Moser – Keenesburg, CO and Zach Thomas from West Burlington, IA. Round 2 Heat Race victories were earned by Ryan “The Hit Man” Kaufman from Table Grove, IL; “Dangerous” Daniel Bergquist from Burlington, IA and Jeremy Shultz.
Tonight’s 8-Rider, 4-Lap LCQ was all Kaufman’s. Ryan led from the start to the finish followed by Thomas, Moser, Mandy “The Wild Child” Brodil and Cheney on the H-D “Thunderquad”.
The 6-Lap Main Event Rolled to the line with the Saddleman Challenge up for grabs. It worked it’s way all the way back to Mandy in 7th starting position when much to the delight of the fans, she took it! Mandy switched spots with Cheney putting her outside row two. When the gate was released pole sitter Shultz launched to the lead ahead of Bergquist & Thomas. Daniel chased Jeremy hard until the third lap when he was able to take the lead from the inside. On lap 5 Thomas also got around Shultz on the inside for second. Then suddenly and unexpected in turn 4 of the last lap Bergquist stalled his Honda 450. Zach “The Maniac” and the rest of the field bolted past the #1 quad in the blink of an eye. The checkered flew for Thomas, Shultz and Moser sending them to the podium. Just missing was “The Wild Child” finishing fourth after coming from 8th with the Saddleman Challenge. It was a very exciting main event for the fans of Cincinnati with very unexpected results. Next week it is on to Danville, IL for Round 13 of the 34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series.

MICHAGAN IS FOR ICE RACERS!

34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series - Round 10 LC Walker Arena – Muskegon, MI – 1/30/10 By: Woody Doogan
MICHAGAN IS FOR ICE RACERS!
A big crowd turned out tonight to check out World Championship ICE Racing in Muskegon’s LC Walker Arena. These fans know their ice racing and had plenty to cheer for with no fewer than 7 Michigan Cup Bike riders out of the 19 racer starting field.
It took 2 rounds of 5 Heat Races each to narrow the field down to 8 starters for the LCQ and the top four riders from the heats to the front row of the main. The riders earning victories in the first round were Jared Mees – Clio, MI; Adam Beldyga – Chesaning, MI; Jeremy DeRuyter – West Bend, WI; Tom McGrane – Honeybrook, PA and Mark Cheza from Clio, MI. Round 2 winners were Mees; DeRuyter; Cheza; JR Schnabel – Campbell sport, WI and Beldyga. Everybody knew how tough this night of racing was going to be but reality kicked in big time when the 8 participants for the Last Chance Qualifier rolled up to the grid. A strong Main Event anywhere else and only the first 4 riders would move on to Muskegon’s Final. The gate was released with JR and Brandon Bergan – Fresno, CA launching off the line side by side like they were drag bikes. They were being chased by local boy Kirk Cheney – Hastings, MI and 2009 World Champion Kevin Anderson – Cambridge, MN who both fought their way through from the back row. In what seemed like the blink of an eye this 6 lapper was history. “Freighttrain” Tom McGrane, Kip Kops – Muskegon, MI; “Sideways” Sammy Wiggins and “Flyin” Bryan McKenna gave it a good go but were done for the night.
The back row of the main was now set and ready to take on Mees, Beldyga, DeRuyter & Cheza sitting up front. Cheney accepted the Motion Pro Challenge much to the delight of his many fans. Referee Robert Arms released the gate and again the “Jammer” shot out to the lead with JR tucked in behind coming out of row 2. Early on Anderson had the third position seemingly locked down. Until Bergan decided he’d rather have that spot and drove Beldyga into Anderson almost slamming Anderson into the front straight away wall on the second lap. By lap 3 those two had beat each other up to the back of the field causing all sorts of mayhem. Suddenly the crowd went nuts as Cheney shoots out of nowhere into third sporting the bright yellow Motion Pro Vest signifying he started last! “Captain” Kirk tried for 5 laps to catch Jared and JR in hopes of collecting the Motion Pro Bonus cash but to no avail. The two leaders were in their own zone, another zip code. Going into the last lap Beldyga and Cheney duked it out for third Anderson made a Bonsai move around both of them for the last podium spot as the checkered waved. It was a great race with battles for position every lap. JR isn’t happy. He has now pulled every trick out of his hat possible to beat Jared before this thing is over in Glens Falls. But for now it’s all “Jammin” Jared Mees who has an incredible win streak going. We will see what happens – Next week Cincy!

DANIEL EXTENDS WIN STREAK – MANDY SURVIVES THE BIG ONE!

34th Annual World Championship ICE Racing Series - Round 10 LC Walker Arena – Muskegon, MI – 1/30/10 By: Woody Doogan
DANIEL EXTENDS WIN STREAK – MANDY SURVIVES THE BIG ONE!
A Real strong field of 15 Unlimited Outlaw Quads showed up in Muskegon, MI tonight to battle it out in the LC Walker Arena. There would have been one more quad competing but Jeff Brodil, Mandy’s dad offered up his to his famous daughter her’s blew and engine the night before in Troy, OH.
Turned out to be a good move as Mandy – Los Banos, CA smoked em in the first heat race of the night. The other first round heat winners were Daniel Bergquist – Burlington, IA; Zach Thomas – West Burlington, IA and Brayton Allen from Stanton, IA. Round 2 heat winners were Dustin Moser – Keenesburg, CO; Dan Jensen – Red Oak, IA; Kevin Veon – Greenfield, IA and Ryan Kaufman from Table Grove, IL.
The 8-Rider 6-Lap LCQ was up next. “Mr LCQ” Kevin Veon led this one wire to wire followed to the main by Zach “The Maniac” Thomas, “The Hitman” Ryan Kaufman and Brock McLeland from Burlington, IA. Allen put up a good fight but ended up one spot short of transferring in 5th.
The Main would be another 8-Rider Event but this time for 6 laps. This one had all the makings to be a great race. Kaufman accepted the Saddleman Challenge putting him on the outside of the back row. The tape went up and 8 Outlaw Quads roared into turn one. The whole front row tried to get through the corner at the same time. In the process hard contact coming out of turn one between Jensen and Mandy sent her violently tumbeling down the back straight away in front of the whole field, flying off her machine, motionless sliding on the ice with 5 more quads still to get by her. Fortunatly everyone either dodged her or stopped before hitting Mandy. The EMS crew reached her as she laid on the ice with dad right there too. In what seemed an eternity, probably only 3-4 minutes, you could have heard a pin drop in the arena. Then Mandy began to regain her senses and was helped to her feet – much to the relief and delight of all the fans and fellow racers. As she was helped back to the pits Mandy stops and makes it clear – hold on – Where you guys taking me? I wanna RACE! So while she convinced the officials she was ok her dad straightened out her (his) banged up machine. Within a couple of minutes all 8 Riders were back on the grid ready to rock. Mandy and Jensen starting were back on the third row penalty for having caused the the race to be stopped for safety. When the tape went up this time Daniel shot out to the lead from the pole followed by Moser and McLeland. As they settled into their single file deal one heck of a race took place behind them. By the third lap Jensen had worked his way up to fourth from the third row but by the last lap he was shuffled all the way back to last. The battle for positions went on fiercely all the way to the checkered flag with Veon earning 4th followed by Kaufman, Mandy, Thomas and Jensen. It’s on to the Cincinnati Gardens Folks!!! See you all there.
